FEMALE WORK FORCE PARTICIPATION RATES IN ASSAM: WHY SO UNFAVORABLE?

Abstract

Women’s are the Backbone of a society, without participation of them development of a country is not possible. In case of India as well as Assam, women participation in work force is not so favorable. So it is very important for the country to encourage females to participate in economic activities. If they participate in economic activities it can help them to become financially independent and empowered. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the trend of female workforce participation rates in Assam as well as in India, how it changes over the years and also to analyze why it is so low. This paper will help us to distinguish between female and male workforce participation rate and also to compare the female work participation rates in Assam with all India rates. This Paper also provides some possible solutions that can be helpful for achieving favorable female work force participation rate.
